When to visit Morocco?
Autumn and Spring are great times to visit if you're hiking and exploring as Morocco experiences extreme seasonal temperatures, especially in the desert and Atlas Mountains. Note the dates of Ramadan, as Morocco follows the Islamic religious calendar, and the implicated fasting could impact travel plans for hikers. You will find winter too cold for a holiday rental, so visit in summer to enjoy this fully! For hiking, the wildlife is at its most beautiful during spring, however the beaches are at their hottest in July and August, so book then if you aim to sunbathe and relax during your stay.
How to get there?
Morocco is situated in the far North-West of Africa, deeming it likely that you will need to fly there, although it is possible to drive through Istanbul, from Europe. If you are to book your holiday rental or hotel near the capital, there are an abundance of flights available. Mohammed V airport in Casablanca is the busiest airport in Morocco, and the fourth busiest in Africa, with many major airlines offering flights to this destination. Marrakesh is a similarly busy airport, with cheap airlines such as Ryanair, Wizz Air and EasyJet all flying to this airport, so you'll be able to bag yourself a bargain easily. There are many more airports in Marrakesh, such as Fez and Agadir, so do not worry if your holiday booking is not near one already mentioned.
If you're planning on renting holiday accommodation in a more rural area, the ferry is a good option. Ferry's run across The Tarifa Tangier ferry route, from Spain to Morocco, also. These run up to 8 times a day and last only an hour approximately. Easy!
Moroccan cuisine and cultural tips:
Make sure you experience Moroccan cuisine during your stay, think authentic tagines, cucumber salads, peppermint tea, delicious! Maybe try cooking up some for yourself and the family in your holiday villa in Morocco and procure the ingredients at one of the local markets, famously colourful with dyes and spices. If you're the adventurous type, try something really special and memorable, and book a few evenings in a wilderness lodge, touring the Sahara by day, and sleeping in a berber tent by night.
Beachfront resorts and cultural stays:
There are so many choices when booking your accommodation on the coast of Morocco, be it a metropolitan sea-view in Casablanca, or a luxury villa with a pool down the coastline, we have you covered. If it's an all-inclusive experience you're looking for, with water sports and activities for the kids, or a cheaper accommodation such as an Airbnb, where you can have a more authentic experience of the country's coastline, there will be accommodation to suit your needs. Perhaps it's just the two of you, and you'd enjoy the privacy of a sea-view apartment to enjoy those summer's eve sunsets from? To make the most of your beach holiday, book with Likibu, and make the perfect choice, just for you.
If you want to have a relaxing holiday but still be a stone's throw from the hubbub of a metropolitan hubbub, book a luxury spa hotel experience in one of Morocco's finest hotels near the 2020 African Capital of Culture, Marrakesh. Visit attractions, close to your accommodation, such as the Jardin Majorelle, a vast and vibrant market place, take a tour of the Bahia Palace or visit the Musée Yves Saint Laurent. To experience more of Morocco, you could combine a stay in Marrakesh with a stay at lodge accommodation in the Sahara or the Atlas Mountains to incorporate some rural exploration of the fantastic offerings of Morocco into your trip too.
What activities to do?
Camel Tours are a popular activity both in the Atlas Mountains and the Sahara, and there are longer routes such as a 3 Day Desert Tour from Marrakesh to Merzouga, also available. Desert is a landscape not experienced in Europe and will be a first for many, go and see it for yourself, why not when you can travel from your hotel in Marrakesh and out into the desert at ease?
If you are here for the hiking, locations such as Todgha Gorge and Toubkal cannot be missed. As you compare accommodation from the local towns, you'll be sure to get a good deal for your hotel booking for the trip too.
